Biker Boy

Well he finally did it.  Coen learned how to ride his bike without training wheels on December 30.  I can't believe how scared he was to even try.  He was our most reluctant learner yet which surprised us so much!  He is such an extremely coordinated kid who has never shown any fear...ever!  Tory finally got him out there to try and sure enough...he did great.  No crashes, no scrapes, no problem.

The first couple tries Dada held on to him.  Serious concentration.  No smiles.

There was no shortage in support.  He had a whole team of brothers cheering him on, up and down the street.

Piece of cake!

11 Years

December 28, Tory and I celebrated 11 years of marriage!  He surprised me with a babysitter and a nice dinner out.  We got all dressed up and had a great time and enjoyed some delicious food.  We should have had the babysitter take a picture of us.  Bummer.

I sure am thankful for my wonderful husband, Tory.  He is the best!  I am so thankful for him and for all that he does.  These 11 years have sometimes been nothing like we thought they'd be and yet everything we had hoped for and imagined on that beautiful December day in Salt Lake City when we were married.
All I know is I sure love this man and I love him more every single day.

Pretty flowers from Tory.

Christmas

Christmas morning we woke up to little voices calling us from their hall.  Is it time yet?  Did Santa come?  We told them we would check it out.

Looks like he came!

And that he was hungry for sugar cookies!

AUSTIN

He couldn't believe he got Beyblades and an Electric Circuit Board!

DALLIN

My favorite picture of him.  He was so surprised to find the Spyro game he's been dreaming of forever!

COEN

Lots of building fun for Coen with Legos and Lincoln Logs.

CLAIRE

A new Rapunzel doll AND Dora?!  Could it get any better?  She was hilarious to watch as she opened her presents.  One of the times I wish I had a video camera.  She was literally SHAKING each time she tore the paper off a present.  And chomping her gum to DEATH!  She was just so excited!

BECKHAM

The tiny man got a little dinosaur ride on toy and a few cars to add to his collection and obsession.  He loved opening his presents, too!  Just look at that face!  I have a million other pictures just like it.  So cute!

Claire and Dada playing Headbanz.

Of course everyone else wanted to join in.  This game is going to take some practice.  Claire and Coen were so funny.  They were guessing only things they saw on everyone else's headbandz.  So we all knew what we had.  lol  Might have to wait until they're a little older for this game.

The boys figuring out Dallin's Magic Tricks.

Christmas Dinner
Claire and Beckham were still asleep so we ate without them.

The only picture missing is one of us all dressed up in our Christmas clothes for church.  I LOVE when Christmas lands on Sunday.  It just helps keep the true meaning of Christmas for me.  It was a wonderful day and we felt so blessed and thankful for all we had and all we were given.
It was definitely a Christmas we won't forget for a very long time.

Christmas Eve

It was just our little family for Christmas this year.  We had a wonderful time.
On Christmas Eve we made some cookies for Santa.

The kids chose gingerbread people for the shape.

Everyone had fun decorating.

We had homemade clam chowder for dinner.  I even got adventurous and made homemade bread bowls.  That was fun!

The kids got to open one present each from Grandma and Grandpa.

Beckham seems to be thinking,
"Are you SURE we can tear into these, guys?  I've been getting in trouble for weeks when I rip into a present..."

New pajamas for everyone!  So cozy!  And now we're ready to watch Mr. Kruger's Christmas.

First a little good-night Skyping with Grandma and Grandpa to thank them for the pj's.

They set out the milk and cookies and scattered the reindeer food (glittery oats) and a few carrots and celery sticks for the reindeer and off to bed they went.  So fun!

Sweet dreams!

Tired Out

The kids Christmas Break started with a half day on Friday, December 16th.  They have two weeks off.  Yeah!  We've been trying to do fun activities and projects mixed in with the normal business of cooking meals and doing laundry and cooking and running kids to the ER and cleaning up throw up and grocery shopping and going to the Ward Christmas party and stuff like that.  Yes, you read that right.  A couple of those events stand out in my mind as well.

The first was the emergency room run we got to do Sunday night, Dec. 11.  We had just come home from church and the kids were dancing to Christmas music in the family room while Tory started his 4 loaves of homemade bread (yes, he bakes us 4 fresh whole wheat loaves of bread each week...on top of everything else he does.  He's pretty much amazing.) and I started dinner.  We heard crying.  It was Dallin.  Then he said his head was bleeding.  He had crashed into the TV cabinet on the top of his head.  We got him into the kitchen.  Definitely a lot of bleeding.  Tory couldn't handle it.  He says he can't handle head wounds.  I've seen him pass out too many times in our almost 11 years of marriage (caught him and saved his life a couple times) so I sent him out.  But not to worry...he was already on his way out.  About that time Dallin was crying for water because he was so thirsty and then puking and white as a sheet.  Definitely in shock.  It was a good inch long and wide open.  No butterflying that one, especially on the head like that.  So off he and I went.  He was much calmer by then and said it didn't hurt.  He did great there and the doctor originally thought he'd put three staples in but made it with just two.  He'll be getting them out tomorrow.  OK, kids...no more ER visits!  I'm getting way too familiar with that place.  That goes for you, too, Tory!  (I've taken him there more than anyone else.  Geesh!)

Well, about 4 nights later or so, we were woken up by Austin saying he had just puked and didn't make it to the toilet.  He did make it to the bathroom.  Just not the toilet.  Ugh.  The whole bathroom is only like 4 feet wide!  How could he miss?!  Oh, well.  He left our room to go back to bed and Tory and I were gathering the courage to get up and check the damage when we heard a scream.  Dallin's scream.  We ran for it, afraid that he had split his head open again.  He had gotten up to go to the bathroom and slipped in Austin's puke on the floor and fell.  He was OK, thank goodness, but entirely covered in Austin's puke from head to toe.  We helped him up and he just lost it.  When he was done he said he had never thrown up that much in his entire life.  (At least he made it to the toilet.)  Pretty much the sickest thing I can think of!  I would have thrown up, too!  Oh, my gosh!  Seriously!  Can you even imagine?!  Poor kid.  He jumped in the shower and my most wonderful husband in the entire WORLD cleaned up the puke that was now spread EVERYWHERE in the bathroom!  Picture slip-n-sliding, splashing...yep.  Took an hour to get it all cleaned up and bleached, etc.  All I know is thank goodness Austin at least made it to the bathroom.  Not a single drop on the carpet.

So amid all the fun and not so fun...some of us are a little tired out!  These kids are dropping like flies around here!  Falling asleep in the craziest places.  Here are a couple from last week.  So funny.

I was on the computer and Beckham was just playing around next to me.  Just seconds later it got really quiet and I turned around to check on him and this is what I found!

I couldn't believe how fast he fell asleep!  Tired baby!

This was just yesterday.  A friend of mine watched the kids in the morning and I picked them up at nap time.  I was getting everyone situated once we got home and realized I hadn't seen Claire for awhile.  This is where I found her.  I can't believe she fell asleep like that!

I don't even know how her head was staying up like that.

She was breathing sooo loud!  LOL  Her nose was all smashed up against the side of the couch.

Now THAT is one tired little girl who needs her naps every single day but especially after playing hard with a little friend!

Sometimes I feel like I could drop asleep like that.  I have a hard time going to sleep before Tory gets home.  Like right now.  It is 12:58 AM and he's still not home from that late job...and I'm still up.  Ugh.
We all need extra sleep around here.  Some of us take it where we can.

Gingerbread Houses

Last night the kids and I made gingerbread houses.  We wished Dada could have been here with us.  He's still working on finishing that guy's garage into a family room and doesn't get home until midnight or later each night.  He's up and out the door for work before the kids are awake the next morning.  Tonight the kids went to bed quite sad because they haven't seen Dada since Sunday.  Poor Dally couldn't stop crying.  He misses Dada so much.  We're so thankful for his hard work and sacrifice for our family.  I know he would much rather be here at home with us, too.  We'll all be glad when he is finished with this project.  And he is getting very close!  But since Dada couldn't be here to make gingerbread houses, the kids wanted to make sure I took lots of pictures of them working so he would know what they did.  So that's what I did.  Here's just a sample of them hard at work.  I was quite impressed with the amount of detail every single one of them put into their houses!  They are serious decorators!  Well, everyone but Beckham that is.  He's more into the demolishing side of the business.

Creative Kids

 Austin's Masterpiece

Dallin adding color coded sprinkles to his roof.  Each row had a different color.

Coen filled every line up with sprinkles.

Claire stayed with her project longer than anyone.  She loved decorating it!

It might look like Beckham is busy putting sprinkles on his house.  He actually did help stick a few on with me but mostly he was scratching off frosting and as many sprinkles as he could and shoving them in his mouth as fast as his fist would allow.  He'd put one on and then scrape off ten.  The drool was running.

Santa Claus CAME to Town!

It wouldn't be Christmas without our annual visit to see Santa at Cabela's.  This is our 5th year going here.  We love it!  Santa is so nice and you never feel rushed.  He talks to each one of the kids and asks what they want.  We went and saw him last week.  Now the hard part for the kids is wondering for a WHOLE week if Santa is going to bring them what they asked for!  Such suspense!

Santa's lap just isn't big enough for the whole crew anymore!

Coen was excited to meet Mrs. Claus while we were waiting in line.

Claire had to stop and say "hi", too!
(Mostly because anything Coco does she must do, too.)

Austin going a little crazy on the bull ride!  Hold on!

I love this picture of Santa talking to Beckham.

Here's what the kids are asking for this year:
Austin-Bey Blades
Dallin-Spyro's Skylander Adventures game
Coen-"Surprise me!"
Claire-Rapunzel doll
Beckham-Cars

Four more days until they get to find out!

I had to take a picture of this "Texas Snowman".  About all we're going to get this Christmas.

Look HERE to see how much these 5 kids have changed this last year!  I'm always amazed!
(And apparently I should be just as amazed to see how much my title for my Santa posts DON'T change during an entire year!  Ha!)
